Frequently Asked Questions

Are parallettes for beginners or advanced athletes? +

Both. A beginner uses them for elevated push-ups, dips, and L-sit progressions. An advanced athlete uses the same pair for planche, handstand press, and maltese work. The equipment doesn't change — your skill level does. That's the point.

Why do my wrists hurt during regular push-ups? +

When you train with flat palms on the floor, your wrist joint sits at 90° under full bodyweight load. Over time that compresses the joint and causes pain. Parallettes shift you into a neutral grip — the same position your wrist is in when it's completely relaxed. It's not a weakness issue. It's a mechanics issue. Our coaches see this constantly.

What exercises can I do with parallettes? +

The short list: push-ups, dips, L-sits, tuck L-sit, V-sit, tuck planche, advanced tuck planche, straddle planche, full planche, handstand, handstand push-up, pseudo planche push-up, pike push-up, Bulgarian dips, Korean dips. From day one to competition level — it's all covered on one pair.

Are Gravlair parallettes stable enough for handstands? +

Yes. The geometric wide base design is built specifically to handle inverted bodyweight loading. This is the exact stability concern that causes people to distrust cheaper Amazon alternatives — and it's why we didn't cut corners on the base. Coach-verified, competition-tested.

Will the wood crack, splinter, or degrade? +

Natural wood will show use over time — that's expected and normal. Minor variations in grain, tone, and surface texture are inherent to the material and part of what makes each set unique. Proper care (keep dry, store indoors, avoid prolonged water exposure) will maintain them long-term.

What size parallettes should I get — standard or mini? +

Standard parallettes suit most users — they provide full range of motion for push ups, L-sits, and handstand training. Mini parallettes are for athletes who want a portable option to take to the park or travel with, or who want a secondary pair for specific skill training. If you're unsure, start with standard.
